New Mini!!!

In another life, I would be blogging about the shortbread Christmas trees I just made, which turned out exactly how I wanted them to, but this is a whole new life! And we have a whole new mini!

Some "friends" of mine seem to think that I have no ability at all to create a card from scratch, that all I can do is copy other works of art out there in the stamping world. There is actually a little bit of truth to that, so armed with my new mini, and my new favourite stamp set, I worked hard to come up with my own creation.

I started off with Eastern Blooms and I picked out one of the beatiful ribbons I found at the craft show at Canterbury last month. I decided I didn't care what else happened with the card, but I had to use those two things. The colours that matched the ribbon best were Rose Red, Blush Blossom and Perfect Plum. I think I really like this combo! It's quite pink, which I really like because my cards so far haven't used much pink. I'm also excited because I am about to order the Rose Red ribbon in the mini, so now I will have one less combo to think about.

So what do you think dear friends? Does this meet with your expectations?!?!

My first attempt at embossing

Sometimes I worry, because every time I sit down to write one of these posts, I want to rave about how much I love that particular colour, or stamp set, or punch or whatever. I'm thinking I have just a wee little addiction problem happening here! (blistex anyone?!) I love Season of Joy! Love it, love it, love it! And I also love Snowflake Spot! Love it, love it, love it! Hmmmmm, yes, I have a problem.

I also have a problem with embossing. The problem here though, is that I haven't quite got the hang of it yet. Maybe I have tried to do it with stamps that are too detailed, but I am not getting it clear enough. The sentiment on that card says Very Merry, but it's really not that easy to read. Once again, it's probably just a case of practice makes perfect, so see you later! I'm off to practice!

Cardstock: Glorious Green, Whisper White
Stamp sets: Season of Joy, Short and Sweet, Snowflake Spot
Ink: Glorious Green, Versamark
Other: Gold embossing powder, gold star brad

Winterbright Kit

With Christmas fast approaching, now is the time to get cracking and finish off your Christmas cards. The Winterbright kit makes it all easy with die cuts and borders and sentiments all ready for you to just whack on a card! I also used the Festive Favourites stamp set and dressed it up with the Real Red and Summer Sun markers.

And look! Not a drop of Purely Pomegranate in sight!

Cardstock: Real red, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Ink: Wild wasabi
Paper: Winterbright kit
Stamps: Festive Favourites
Other: Markers, gold star brad

One of a Kind/Boho Blossoms

This is a great card for any occasion. I have put a birthday sentiment on there, but it could easily be a Thankyou card, or a Hello card, or a Mothers' Day card. I'd probably stick with a female recipient though, with all those flowers and all that pink!
I just love the fact that the boho blossoms punch co-ordinates with the One of Kind stamp set. I am so bad at cutting out little detailed flowers and the like, so having the two together makes my life so much easier! I would tell you that this is one of my favourite sets, but I think I may have already said that on every other post I have made! How many favourites am I allowed to have? ALL OF THEM!
Did you notice? Once again, I have managed to incorporate Purely Pomegranate into this card. I'll try to break out something new next time so you don't get bored!

Cardstock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, dodgy non-SU leftover pink
Stamp sets: One of a kind, Birthday Whimsy
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, and once again a collection of pinks that I can't remember (I'll get better at this, I promise!)
Ribbon: Chocolate Chip grosgrain, Very Vanilla grosgrain
I cased this card from a friend, just with different colours. I went with the in colours because I just love Purely Pomegranate! I have a hard time not including it in every single card I make. I am going to be very sad when it leaves us next year. I might have to get 100 packs of cardstock and 10 reinkers which will hopefully be so much I'll eventually get over it!

Cardstock: Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky (and there's two other pinks in there, but I can't remember which ones I used!)
Stamp Sets: Short and Sweet, Seeing Spots
Ribbon: Purely Pomegranate double stitched

Pink and Blue Baby Cards

I needed to make a card for a friend's birthday shower which is coming up soon. I love Nice and Narrow (which is retired) and I teamed it up with Simple Somethings from the current catalogue. I also used the chalks to colour in a little. I'm not sure about them so far - I think they probably require a bit too much artiness for me! Or maybe I just need more practice.... what a good excuse to make more cards!!! After I made these cards I realised I should actually have something more gender neutral so keep your eye out..

Cardstock: Almost Amethyst, Ballet Blue, Other Offcuts
Stamps: Nice and Narrow, Simple Somethings, Short and Sweet
Ink: Black, Ballet Blue, Perfect Plum
Other: Chalks, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Pretty in Pink Ribbon

Loud Happy Birthday!

This is a seriously bright Happy Birthday card I cased from here.. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/982929

I am a big fan of bold brights. But then again, I am also a big fan of soft subtles, and earth elements, and rich regals.......! (and don't even get me started on in colours!)
